{"id":3024,"date":"2021-05-10T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-10T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cefobi-conicet.gov.ar\/?p=3024"},"modified":"2021-05-10T09:41:06","modified_gmt":"2021-05-10T12:41:06","slug":"firmeza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cefobi-conicet.gov.ar\/en\/firmeza\/","title":{"rendered":"Cover of JOURNAL OF BACTERIOLOGY for new discoveries in bacterial photobiology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last publication of the group SENSING AND LIGHT RESPONSES IN BACTERIA, leaded by Alejandra Mussi, has been selected as cover for the February issue of <strong>Journal of Bacteriology<\/strong>.  <strong><em>Light modulates important pathogenic determinants and virulence in Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus ESKAPE pathogens<\/em>, 2021 Feb 8;203(5):e00566-20, doi:10.1128\/JB.00566-20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In this research, the authors were able to show that light modulates pathogenic determinants and virulence in a model for epithelial infections for human pathogens belonging to the ESKAPE group, such as <i>Acinetobacter baumannii<\/i>, <i>Staphylococcus aureus<\/i> and <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work involved a multidisciplinary team, including: Tuttobene M.R., P\u00e9rez J.F., Pavesi E., Perez Mora B., Biancotti D., Cribb P., Altilio M., M\u00fcller G., Gramajo H., Tamagno G., Ram\u00edrez M.S., Diacovich L., Mussi M.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La <strong>Dr. Alejandra Mussi<\/strong> tells: <em>\"This work involved researchers from different fields, including Jorgelina P\u00e9rez and Gilda Tamagno, directly involved with the Health Research Area at the Faculty of Biochemistry and Pharmacy (UNR) and at the Centenario Hospital. They analyzed clinic strains from patients at the hospital and were the link with our research. The collaboration of Mar\u00eda Soledad Ram\u00edrez (CSUF, Fullerton, USA) and Gabriela M\u00fcller (CEFOBI) was central to improve the knowledge on S. aureus. Also, the dedication and hard-work of Marisel Tuttobene and Estefan\u00eda Pavesi was fundamental to achieve the results presented in the publication\"<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work was supervised jointly by <strong>Diacovich<\/strong> (IBR) and <strong>Mussi <\/strong>(CEFOBI) and was selected as cover in Journal of Bacteriology because bacterial photobiology has become a hot field in microbiology. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/jb.asm.org\/content\/203\/5\/e00566-20.long\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/jb.asm.org\/content\/203\/5\/e00566-20.long\">Journal of Bacteriology<\/a><\/strong> por sus aportes innovadores en una disciplina nueva y caliente como la fotobiolog\u00eda en bacterias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La \u00faltima publicaci\u00f3n del laboratorio de PERCEPCI\u00d3N Y RESPUESTA A LUZ EN PAT\u00d3GENOS BACTERIANOS, que dirige la Dra.
