Adem\u00e1s, el grupo investiga otras funciones de estos compuestos, principalmente los&nbsp;fenilpropanoides, en respuestas a otros tipos de estr\u00e9s, por ejemplo el ataque por Casati<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">En nuestro grupo estudiamos distintas respuestas de las plantas superiores a la radiaci\u00f3n ultravioleta. Investigamos los mecanismos que han desarrollado algunas especies vegetales como&nbsp;<em>Arabidopsisthaliana<\/em>, ma\u00edz y sorgo, para la adquisici\u00f3n de mayores niveles de tolerancia a esta radiaci\u00f3n. Nuestro grupo de trabajo investiga la s\u00edntesis de compuestos&nbsp;fotoprotectores, en particular los flavonoides. Los flavonoides son metabolitos especializados con diversas funciones biol\u00f3gicas, entre ellas proteger a las plantas frente a elevados niveles de radiaci\u00f3n y participar en respuestas frente a pat\u00f3genos. Por otra parte, la exposici\u00f3n al UV-B produce da\u00f1o en al ADN, y esto induce la \u201crepuesta frente al da\u00f1o al ADN\u201d, que regula el arresto del ciclo celular, la expresi\u00f3n de genes que codifican prote\u00ednas para la reparaci\u00f3n del ADN, y la muerte celular programada. Estos compuestos desempe\u00f1an importantes roles en la fisiolog\u00eda, crecimiento y desarrollo, como as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n en la protecci\u00f3n frente a diferentes tipos de estr\u00e9s. Estructuralmente, los flavonoides est\u00e1n compuestos por dos anillos arom\u00e1ticos unidos por un heterociclo. Modificaciones en el anillo central diferencian a los distintos subtipos de flavonoides. La diversidad estructural existente entre los distintos flavonoides sugiere que los mismos podr\u00edan cumplir roles espec\u00edficos y diferentes entre s\u00ed.
